Ipswich legend Fabian Wilnis says that manager Jim Magilton should be given everyone’s full support in his quest to get the Blues to the Premiership.

We’ve Been Nominated! Vote Vital Ipswich…

Despite not being offered a contract extension at Portman Road by Magilton at the end of last season after nine years at the club, Wilnis, a former teammate and player under Jim, believes that people should stick by him.

He said: ‘He is under tremendous pressure, but it will not be long before the club kicks-on under his control.

‘I see Jim as a long-term manager and he should definitely be supported.’

Incidentally, Wilnis says that he will retire from playing at the end of the season. The 39-year-old has been playing for Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic this season, but says he will not be playing on the pitch next season: ‘It is time to call it a day, and I shall not be looking for a club for 2009/10. I feel fit and healthy but the legs will not always do it anymore.’

The Dutchman’s last game will be in an Ipswich shirt in a testimonial game, most likely against Feyenoord.
