Ten Missing For Cup?

Manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he has a massive injury headache ahead of our game against Crawley tomorrow in the Capital One Cup.

McCarthy could be without up to ten senior players given knocks and niggles we are carrying at the moment and the gaffer told the Official Site that he certainly wouldn’t be risking anybody who wasn’t 100% for this game, so youngsters Jack Marriott and Matthew Clarke are already pencilled in to start the game.

‘We’ve got a few knocks and niggles but I certainly won’t be risking anyone if they’re not fully fit. The lads ran themselves into the ground against Fulham and we’ve picked up a few knocks.’

Amongst those knocks are the foot injury that Skuse picked up that led to his substitution, and Luke Hyam went down with cramp with Tyrone Minds having a sore back as well.

Stating further that Tommy Smith is still nursing a sore groin, the gaffer confirmed that 17 year old Clarke will be making his debut, and with Marriott being away at Woking he’ll also be given a chance to shine having apparently come back ‘leaner’.

Be interesting to see how light we might be tomorrow evening but it will be a great opportunity for others to stake their claim obviously.
