Midfielder David Norris has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association for his celebration against Blackpool.

The ex-Plymouth man later admitted that his gesture was a private message to old Pilgrims teammate Luke McCormick, jailed for killing young brothers Aaron and Ben Peak on the M6 in the summer whilst under the influence of alcohol.

He was asked to explain his actions by the FA and they were reported to be happy the way in which Ipswich Town have dealt with the matter.

He has since requested a personal hearing.

Yes, Norris was wrong to do it so publicly, but he has since apologised countless times including once in person to Mr and Mrs Peak, of which they later called for an end to the hate campaign.

Not only that, but he was fined two weeks wages, which were subsequently donated to a charity of the Peak’s choice. And no doubt we will see more of the Doncaster game, where he was targeted by fans and players alike.

It’s time the FA got a grip.
