Defender Alex Bruce has hinted that he would like to stay at Portman Road, even though there is no sign of a new deal on the table and that his contract runs out next summer.

Bruce scored his first goal for the Blues in their 2-1 defeat at his former club Birmingham last night. He said: ‘The contract stuff has come up recently and the situation is that at the moment I have not been offered anything but we will have to wait and see how that develops.

‘I’d like it resolved as soon as possible but for me now, I have to get my head down, play as many games as I can and see how things progress.

‘Playing games is the key thing for me at the moment.’

The defender has been largely out of favour this season, but has came back into the side due to an injury to captain Gareth McAuley.
