Striker Daryl Murphy has been given the go ahead to join the lads in pre season training following the thigh injury he picked up that caused him to withdraw from international duty with the Republic of Ireland recently.

He was in their squad to visit the United States to face off against Costa Rica and Portugal in pre World Cup friendlies, but having sustained the injury he had to pull out and return to Portman Road for treatment.

At the start of this month he responded well the rehabilitation work, and he’s now been cleared by the medical staff to begin pre season work again.

Speaking to the Official Site physio Matt Byard explained.

‘Murph felt a niggle when he was warming up during the match against Italy. He training on the Monday after and felt it again so I spoke to the Irish doctor and he was withdrawn from the squad. We have been doing some work with him over the last three weeks and the injury has settled down now. He is fit and well and ready to start pre season next week.’
