Jonny Williams enjoyed a successful loan spell with Ipswich from February onwards but is now back with parent club Crystal Palace.

The midfielder signed a new contract with Crystal Palace during the season and this ties him to Selhurst Park long-term but he could face a struggle to get a regular starting place next season.

Mick McCarthy would love the chance to bring him back to Portman Road but knows this depends on Crystal Palace and their plans for him, asked by the Green Un if there was a chance of bringing him back he said ‘I haven’t a clue.’

It’s quite clear to see that McCarthy wants him back though, also saying: ‘We all love him, we’d all love him back, but there will be others who would love to have him as well.

‘That’s just the way it is. There might be Premier League clubs that want to take him, Tony might want to have a look at him. Who knows?

‘He’s done himself no harm has he? He’s been fabulous. We’d take him back at the drop of a hat. We’d love to have him back, of course, but that’s not my decision.’

One thing that McCarthy will be looking at again if loan deals from premier league clubs with them the quality of the 20-year-old Welsh international.

What chance do you think Ipswich have of bringing Williams back, which of course everyone would want!

Two that will be at Portman Road next season are youngsters Teddy Bishop and Darren McQueen, who have both signed one-year professional deal.

Bishop was involved in the first-team on two occasions during the last season with both looking to make further inroads into the first-team next season.
