Manager Mick McCarthy has said that despite Burnley knowing they cannot take the title, but that they are secured of promotion this season, they won’t be celebrating their Premiership success just yet and they will be looking to end the season on a high, to make up for not quite reaching the top spot.

Speaking to the Official Site McCarthy said having been in the position that their manager has been previously in his career, he knows that the side will not be facing their remaining games with nothing to play for, so it’s not going to be any easier for us to face them even though their fate is now sealed.

‘I have been in Burnley’s position when you are promoted and you have teams coming to you with everything to play for. They will be celebrating this week and good luck to them, they have been fantastic and deserve it.’

McCarthy admits that people questioned whether both Leicester and Burnley could maintain their form, especially Burnley with their notable small squad, but the fact that they have, and the tightness within that group means that irrespective of what their gaffer tells them, the players themselves being that tight won’t let each other slip away from the standards they have set so far this season.

‘When it comes around to Saturday, they will want to go out on a high in front of their home fans. They will want to finish the season with a flourish.’

Even the fact that the game is being screened with be a motivation for both sides as players look to show the wider football world what they are capable of – KO 12.15pm.

McCarthy has also given a latest injury update, and it’s both good and bad news for us.

Luke Hyam has now been ruled out of the game, and Paul Anderson and Anthony Wordsworth remain major doubts – but there is better news and the gaffer can welcome back Christophe Berra.
