Manager Mick McCarthy has said that he’s hopeful he’ll be able to welcome back both Christophe Berra and Luke Hyam to training ahead of the game against Burnley this weekend.

Both players missed the Easter Monday two all draw with Bournemouth after picking up knocks in the defeat to Watford last weekend, and of course the Bournemouth game also saw us take a few more knocks with Paul Anderson coming off in the second half after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury that has he;d him back lately, and Anthony Wordsworth also suffered a dead leg in the game.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager explained.

‘Christophe’s knee had swollen up after the Watford game but hopefully he will be okay for Saturday. It’s the same with Luke. We are hopeful with him but we will have to see how it goes over the next day or two.’

As for Anderson and Wordsworth, McCarthy admits it really is a case of ‘wait and see’ as obviously their knocks are more recent, so the medical staff will be giving them a heavy dose of TLC and R&R in the hope that it proves to be enough for the to play some part in Saturday’s match as we look for another three points to keep the pressure on in those play off spots.

Having returned to the side himself for the Bournemouth game, Frazer Richardson, said he was delighted to get his first 90 minutes since December under his belt again, and obviously he was hoping he’d done enough to give the manager something to think about for the remaining matches this season.

‘It was an entertaining game and we gave it everything, it’s just disappointing that they’ve scored with a wicked deflection.’

Richardson admits that in the second half his legs did tire, but he felt he coped with it well, but a reasonable turn around for him as he admits he only found out on the morning of the game that he was playing when Berra was ruled out.
