David McGoldrick might have missed the last three-months of last season due to a knee ligament injury but this didn’t stop him being the Ipswich top goalscorer with 16.

Had the striker been available for the 2013/14 seasons duration you would like to think that a higher than 9th finish, our best since 2009 mind, could have been achieved and they play-offs might not have quite eluded the club?

That is the past though and we have to focus on the present and future and this includes the 26-year-old who is ‘progressing’ and ‘doing OK’ in his recovery attempts with Mick McCarthy giving an update on his condition.

McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk: ‘He was in America for his strengthening and he will be continuing that.

‘I’m hoping that he will be out with the balls next week. He’s progressing, he’s doing OK.’

The sooner McGoldrick is back the better, however he can only return when he is fully fit and ready as rushing could cause an unwanted and unwelcome setback!
