Aaron Cresswell has said he’s delighted to get the chance to say goodbye to the Town fans properly when West Ham arrive at Portman Road this Wednesday.

The 24 year old has only recently moved to West Ham for a ratcheted transfer fee and it’s expected that he will be in the starting line up when we face them in a friendly.

Speaking to the Official Site Cresswell explained.

‘It’s great to have the chance to come back to Ipswich and properly say my goodbyes to the players, the staff and the supporters. Ipswich put faith in me and I want to put on record my sincere thanks to the owner, Mick McCarthy and Paul Jewell – who signed me – and the fans at Ipswich for their fantastic support over the past three years.’

Cresswell goes on to say that it was obviously a difficult decision to leave Ipswich given the relationships he’d formed at the club but obviously the pull of the Premier League, having been linked with moves there regularly in recent years, was a great opportunity for him to progress his career and continue growing as a player, so it was ultimately an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

‘I genuinely wish Ipswich every success for the season ahead and I’ll be keeping an eye on their results.’
