Long-Term Deal For Defender

In order to ensure that Christophe Berra doesn’t rundown his Ipswich contract and leave on a free, the manor in which he arrived, talks have opened over a new ‘long-term’ contract.

The ‘understanding’ from sky sports is that this is the case anyway….

Berra was highly successful with Town last season, his form over 45-appearances, which included five-goals from defence, brought him an international recall with Scotland. Yes I know, Christophe Berra isn’t exactly a very Scottish sounding name but Scottish he is and a re-established international too.

Another year on top of what the 29-year-old has, with an ‘option’ perhaps, would be a good way forward I feel, so we’ll have to see what happens.
