We allowed Jack Collison to train with us last week with the former West Ham United midfielder given a chance to potentially earn himself a contract with Ipswich.
Rumour has it that Mick McCarthy has been impressed with the midfielder, which doesn’t really surprise me as I know that Collison is a really good footballer who is without a doubt premier league class.
The problem with him though are injuries….
Collison, and any player that suffers with injuries, can’t help this being the case but it would be something of a ‘calculated risk’ perhaps to offer the 25-year-old a contract at Portman Road and such concerns can only be the reason that others haven’t done so already.
Queen Park Rangers took a look at him on trial during the summer; he didn’t get a deal with them though.
The 17-times capped Welsh international, on a deal that suits us, would be a fine addition to the squad, but a deal that is best for us is definitely the way it needs to be!
