Bartosz Bialkowski’s transfer return to Ipswich, after his previous loan in 20009, was a drawn out one but finally got signed off at the end of last week.

Mick McCarthy is happy with the ‘keepers that he has at Portman Road, and has spelt out that Dean Gerken is his no.1, challenging Bialkowski to prove he is worthy to be his first choice.

The 27-year-old himself has told the EADT that he hasn’t come to ‘sit on the bench’ and he, like anyone else, wants to play football so he is aiming to prove to McCarthy that he should do this.

He said: ‘Everyone wants to play and I’m no different.

‘I sat on the bench too many times for Southampton earlier in my career and I don’t want to be in that situation again. I’m coming into my best years as a goalkeeper. I’ll just do my best to impress the gaffer by working hard.’

Bialkowski had made the decision to move backwards to go forward, leaving Southampton previously for Notts County but now he is back playing at championship level he is hoping that he can show the form to make his dream of playing for Poland a reality,

Two, good, and hungry ‘keepers at Portman Road can only be a good thing for us can’t it?
