I think we can answer this stress-free. This is football gossip time, so the answer is no.
The truth of the matter is that Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has bought into this project with CEO Mark Ashton, and there is apparently a gentleman’s agreement that they are both here for the long haul. Anyway, truth be known, he is low down on the pecking order at Celtic too, and let’s face it, why on earth would he consider Leicester City above us? No disrespect to the Foxes but they are in our division now!
You can quickly understand why Kieran McKenna is in such high demand with a 55.7-win ratio from 79 games. That’s an impressive statistic, and it will have raised a few eyebrows in the football community that’s for sure! Of course, if he continues to succeed, there will be much bigger fish swimming around the Portman Road pond!
As for Celtic, they have other bigger fish to fry, and in the frame at the moment appears to be Norwegian Kjetil Knutsen won the Norwegian Eliteserien titles with Glimt in 2020, and then again, in 2021. Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca is the second favourite at 2-/1 followed by Graham Potter, David Moyes, and Brendan Rodgers at around 10/1 Even Jesse Marsch is above our manager in the betting stakes at 12/1. McKenna is a rank outsider at 25/1. Even Frank Lampard might fancy his chances over the border in a vain attempt to resurrect his faltering managerial career. That’s if they wanted him but looking at the current betting odds he is ranked even lower at 40/1!
But for now, at least, I think we can all relax. Kieran Mckenna is going nowhere, and part two of our challenge to reach football’s promised land begins in the Championship in August, and with Mckenna at the helm, it might not take too long before we all realize our dreams of wonderful Premier League football once more!
