Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry suggested that a Championship would come in for midfielder Jack Taylor so if it’s us, then why would we want him?
With an abundance of midfielders at our disposal it does seem a little strange that we would desire another – unless someone was moving out – or there was the prospect of a play exchange deal. There is talk that the player could be Kayden Jackson, but it is all hearsay at the moment. This is the season for football gossip when all is so quiet.
The most persuasive argument for taking Taylor could be that we have tried many times before, and he is intent on leaving. Posh Chairman Daragh MacAnthony revealed in January that a club had come in with a bid of around 2 million for the player and it seems that it could have been Ipswich Town who have already made four individual bids for the player. They don’t want to lose out to another Championship side.
The other possible explanation for Town’s determination to get the player is that he is the perfect fit for us. He is an intelligent footballer who scores goals, so you could say he is tailor-made for the Blues. It looks as if Massimo Luongo will sign a contract extension shortly, but in his career so far he has been a bit injury-prone, and this might be the deciding factor Anyway, the more strength in depth we have the better.
