Where Will Town Be After Christmas?

I think most of us have come to realise that December might be the month that decides our eventual fate. With this in mind, here is my view of the games ahead.

And, before we get to the dreaded last month of the calendar year, we still have more business to attend to in November, beginning on Saturday with an away trip to the Baggies. They currently lie just outside the play-off zone but have been on a very good run which has seen them win three of their last five Championship matches. Not easy.

Prediction: WBA 1 Ipswich 1 (1 point)

Next up is Millwall, and once again it is another late kick-off on a Wednesday night at Portman Road. All things being well, I will be in Thailand to witness these two matches at some unearthly hour but provided we don’t disgrace ourselves, I am prepared to prevent shut-eye until the final whistle blows. I see goals in this one but most to Town!

Prediction: Ipswich 3 Millwall 1 (3 points)

Now we move into December and we begin with a game on paper that we really out to win. The Sky Blues have spent big but started very badly and I just hope Mark Robins hangs on to his job until after we have played them!

Prediction: Ipswich 2 Coventry City 0 (3 points)

On Saturday the 9th of December we travel to the North East and this is a game I am very fearful of. We do not have a good record against them and they have found a rich vein of form both at home and away and if we get anything from this one it will come as a very pleasant surprise. It is a shame we could not have played them a bit earlier!

Prediction: Middlesborough 2 Ipswich 1 (0 points)

Watford away on the 12th of December is another tough one but I think we will come through it with a narrow victory, but as this goes to print, they are undefeated in five.

Prediction: Watford 1 Ipswich 2 (3 points)

So then, onto the game, we have been anxiously waiting for as we entertain our closest and fiercest rivals from Norfolk. They have had a terrible start under David Wagner who has been given the dreaded vote of confidence from Sporting Director Ben Knapper.

Prediction: Ipswich 4 Norwich 0 (3 points)

Leeds away two days before Christmas is a daunting spectacle but I have a feeling that the Blues will come away with something from a game with lots of goals again!

Prediction: Leeds 2 Ipswich 2 ( 1 point)

Next up is current leaders Leicester City at home and with a vibrant Portman Road crowd roaring us on I think we can take all three points here in a topsy-turvy game.  The Foxes have yet to draw so if I don’t get my desired score then a 2-2 would probably do. They are top for a reason but unlike us, they have already lost three times.

Prediction: Ipswich 3 Leicester 2 (3 points)

We end the year at Portman Road with a game against struggling QPR. They have a goal difference of -16 and although they did well against us at their place, we still came away with three points, and they sit just above Sheffield Wednesday in 23rd place.

Prediction: Ipswich 4 QPR 0 ( 3points)

That would be 20 extra points, bringing the grand total to 59, which would equate to six wins, two draws and one solitary defeat. I would happily take that, but would you?
