What Ipswich Town Really Need Now Is…

We are doing wonderfully well so far but to sustain this over the season, we really do need new reinforcements, and the sooner the better, whilst the window is still open!

The top priority has to be another forward and ideally another seasoned centre-half, but the clock is ticking so we need to recruit rather quickly now. Town does have irons in the fire, but negotiations are protracted. I have been informed that Axel Tuanzebe and Jesuran Rak-Saki are still on our radar but are also interesting other sides as well.

Let us not forget the goalkeeping dilemma as well. Some might say it is not a problem because when Cristian Wlaton returns we will have three goalkeepers competing for the number one jersey but this is a fallacy. We have no idea how long we will have to wait before Walton is back in the frame – although the latest gossip suggests it could be at the beginning of September at the earliest. With that in mind, who next?

I am of the opinion that all we need is a loan deal for a goalkeeper who has had some experience playing in and around the Championship, and the goalkeeping department should be relatively easy to fill because there are lots of stoppers out there, spending most weekends on bench-warming duties who would grab the chance of being involved with a club that is going places. Bring back Tomas Holy I hear you say!

So then, what we really need going forward is another striker, a stand-on keeper on a short-term loan, and a proven central defender. It is of course easier said than done, but I am quite sure Town are still pulling the strings from behind the scenes with CEO Mark Ashton at the helm, working overtime at the behest of manager Kieran McKenna.
