What Can We Get Out Of The Stadium Of Light?

This depends on who you speak to I guess. My wife and I are convinced it will be a 2-2 draw and I would gladly take that. What about you? Is winning a serious possibility?

Last night Sunderland were thumped by League Two side Hartlepool United and if you recall, last season, they narrowly avoided going out of professional football altogether.

Losing keeper Christian Walton is a big blow, but stoppers get very few opportunities to excel, and if you spend most of your time on the bench you have to take those opportunities when they present themselves. He must take his chance and he will!

Against RB Leipzig he proved his worth on several occasions so I don’t think we should be too despondent that our number one is not playing. His distribution is often quicker than Walton’s, so we have more chance of some up-tempo attacks, assuming he can guard against profligacy. I have always quite liked Hladky and I think he will rise to the occasion. Losing Harry Clarke is another big blow but Sunderland are missing players too, and that is why you have such a big squad. And let’s not forget folks, our third choice keeper we acquired from Manchester City! Ciaran Slicker will be on the bench.

So then, what do you think will happen on Sunday in our first Championship encounter of a new football season? I would happily take a draw – especially as we cannot field a full-strength team. It will be a full house, so it is important Town gets the first goal in my view. If we do, it will silence a partisan crowd and referee Sam Barrett reffed our 6-0 win against Charlton! We will need a bit of lady luck, and he might just provide it!

Anything is possible, what you’re facing is a team of, when we are good, we are brilliant, when we are bad…. oh dear. Luckily for us last season it was the 1st one most games.Funnily enough most of them were away games, home games seemed to let us down. Loing heavily (Stoke 1-5) drawing games we were easily winning. QPR Watford. Put that together with a lack of forwards, it cost us. Hopefully we are addressing that, though, only partially for Sunday. Good luck for the season except Sunday an return fixture obviously

I agree John. Wish all you loyal fans the best of luck for the rest of the season – Sunday and the return fixture at Portman Road excepted!
