Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell looks set to add two new faces to his side next week, according to various reports.

Expectations had been high of at least one new arrival at Portman Road last week, but it now looks highly likely that a number of deals are set to be concluded in the next few days. One of those will almost certainly be midfielder Lee Bowyer, who was heavily linked with the Blues over the course of last week. It is understood that the 34-year-old, who was released by Birmingham City at the end of the season, has been on holiday this week but is set to sign for Town upon his return, possibly in time for the pre-season tour of Holland.

Meanwhile speculation is also mounting surrounding the identity of a second player whom Ipswich are thought to be closing in on. Reports have emerged that former Hull City midfielder George Boateng (pictured) is currently training with the Blues having been released by Greek club Skoda Xanthi, with some suggestions that the 35-year-old could be offered a deal. Also training with the side is former Blue Richard Wright, though the goalkeeper is believed to be merely maintaining his fitness as he continues his search for a new club.

Town boss Jewell is most definitely on the lookout for additions to his midfield, with a number of players having been linked so far this summer. Sources close to Nigel Reo-Coker have reportedly played down suggestions last week that the released Aston Villa midfielder has been in talks with Town, whilst rumours continue over the future of Jimmy Bullard. The former Town loanee, who appears to be back on Jewell’s radar following the sale of Connor Wickham, is currently away with the Hull City squad on a pre-season tour of Slovenia, though Premier League newcomers QPR are said to have made an enquiry about signing the 32-year-old on loan.
