Outgoing Ipswich Town midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been hit by a £3,000 fine and warned as to his future conduct by the FA for making an offensive Tweet.

JET was ruled to have acting in a manner which was “improper and/or brought the game into disrepute”, breaking Rule E3 for the Tweet, which is understood to have had homophobic overtones.

An FA statement stated: “Ipswich Town`s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been fined £3,000 and warned by The FA as to his future conduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 in that he posted a comment on Twitter which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

“Further to the charge was that the comment included a reference to a person or persons` sexual orientation within the meaning of FA Rule E3(2).

“Emmanuel-Thomas denied the charge and requested a paper hearing. However, at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing the charge was found proven.”

The enigma which is JET will soon be someone else’s problem to solve as a switch to Bristol City, with Paul Anderson coming this way, close to completion.
