Hartlepool manager Chris Turner confirmed that Ipswich are in for his top target Colin Healy from Cork, and is bitterly disappointed not to have secured his signature.

Turner believes if it wasn’t for the Blues’ eleventh hour bid for the 29-year-old, Healy would now be a Hartlepool player: ‘We were very, very close to signing Colin Healy, who in our midfield would make a massive difference. But unfortunately, Ipswich have come in for him at a late stage and look like pipping us.

‘It’s a little bit annoying after we’ve tracked him for quite a while.’

‘Those players don’t come along very often.’

Sounds promising and perhaps we don’t need a big name after all. Although a deal looks to be nearly complete, no-one from Ipswich’s end has confirmed anything.
