Is This Coventry Reject Ipswich Bound?

There is lots of activity behind the scenes at Portman Road but little that makes for easy reading. Apparently, one striker is stalling on a potential deal, and Town have turned their attention to another forward who is now top of their wish list.

And there is some substance to that George Hirst speculation. Town are still trying to get that one over the line apparently, and negotiations are still ongoing. The same can be said for another striker that Ipswich have had on their radar for some time. This transfer window so far feels like we are watching paint dry but progress is being made.

Now there are reports that Ipswich are showing interest in Matty Godden from Coventry City who hasn’t always been fully fit for the Sky Blues in his time at the club. So then, why should Ipswich take a striker who is seen as second-string for a club that is now in our division! I don’t think this would be a clever move, but in the second tier, he scored 12 times in 24 matches –  which equates to a goal every two matches.

News that Town has confirmed the signing of New Zealand U20s international keeper Henry Gray on a two-year deal is encouraging, and our other keeper Woody Williamson has also penned a new two-year deal with the Blues and that’s good. With the signing of City keeper Ciaran Slicker, we can probably expect Czech keeper Vaclav Hlady to be on his way. A keeper’s life is about game time – wherever that might be.
