Ipswich Town have completed the signing of 18,year-old, Waterford United midfielder Jack Doherty.

The youngster, who impressed while on trial with Town in Ireland has penned on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

‘He trained in Ireland with us and wasn’t embarrassed by being there and kind of stood out,’ boss Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk.
‘There’s a real potential in him. He needs to put some [weight] on.’

Doherty, Town’s ninth signing of the summer, will be joining former Waterford forward Daryl Murphy at Ipswich. ‘If Jack does anywhere near as well as Murph has done then we will be delighted,’ added McCarthy.

One for the future no doubt and another piece in MM’s jigsaw
