Ipswich are after Reading keeper Alex McCarthy according to a Royals reporter on Twitter.

The 23-year-old who recently returned from a loan spell at Leeds United is set to join Town according to Johnny Fordham.

Blues boss Paul Jewell has made it clear the Blues are keen on signing an additional keeper to challenge Arran Lee-Barrett and Richard Wright, with previous loanee David Stockdale having been recalled by Fulham last month.

Guildford-born 6ft 4in-tall England U21 cap McCarthy came through the Royals` youth system and has previously had loan spells at Woking, Cambridge United, Team Bath, Aldershot Town, Yeovil Town and Brentford in addition to Leeds.
