The ex-Sheffield United striker says that last weekend’s display and win at QPR has to be produced more often from now until the end of the season. He told the club site: ‘We produced a good display at QPR last week and that’s a performance we know we are capable of, with a great work ethic and some quality goals.

‘We need to look to match that or get near that level over the rest of the season.

‘We have been talking about putting a run together and getting momentum for months now and hopefully with two wins under our belt and a pretty good January behind us as well, now is the time. There’s great spirit in the camp and we all believe we can make it.

The striker is also looking forward to the Preston game: ‘We know it’s going to be a very tough game at Preston. They have a very good home record and they will probably come out of the blocks at 100mph. They will have been wounded by the defeat at Southampton last week and look to make amends.’
