Nicknamed ‘The Beast’ because of his size, the 27-year-old is in his first full season as a Preston player. At his previous clubs, fans established the chant ‘Feed The Beast and he will score’, taken from Man City’s chant at ex-star Shaun Goater ‘Feed The Goat and he will score’.

The 6 ft 4 in striker is a towering presence up front and although he may not be the most prolific striker, he is always the target man that is strong enough to shrug off any defender.

That’s not to say that he can’t score – he has started 20 games this season and netted four times. One goal every four games isn’t the worst record for a striker, but his game involves bringing in others around him.

However, Parkin is now at his sixth different club in just ten years. This inconsistency has meant that the Preston fans favourite has never really had enough time to establish himself at former clubs, but the luxury of a three-year deal at Deepdale may go a long way to resolving this issue for Parkin.
