Sito Castro is in Jim Magilton’s first team plans for next season. The Spanish right back was on the transfer list prior to former boss Joe Royle’s departure.

Magilton told the club site: ‘A new manager means a new start for all the players, a clean slate and that includes Sito.

‘He will be given every opportunity, like the other players, to show me what he can do and, if he matches the form that he showed when he first arrived at the club, he will be putting himself in the first team frame.

‘He was terrific when he first arrived but his form dipped and he has to step up his game now and show the consistency that’s needed. That’s the challenge I’ve set him.’

Sito was given a three year deal at Portman Road, following a succesful trial spell last summer, and a subsequent one year deal.
