Even though Jordan Rhodes appears to be in Ipswich gaffer Roy Keane’s plans for the new season, that hasn’t stopped Andy Scott in his quest to bring the striker back to Griffin Park.

Rhodes was a huge success at Brentford and a big hit with their fans during his loan spell in the final months of last season, before it ended prematurely with a broken metatarsal. But his seven goals in 14 games (and two in five for Rochdale at the start of the campaign) was enough to win him the League Two Player of the Year Award, not to mention the fact that he was a big help for Brentford in winning the League Two title.

Town beat the League One new boys on Wednesday night in a pre-season friendly, with Rhodes bagging a goal, but Bees boss Scott suggested he still holds out hope of bringing Rhodes back on loan: ‘I`d love to have him back here but he knows he has to impress Roy and see what happens at Ipswich.

‘I spoke to Roy before the game but that is the first time he has had the chance to see what Jordan can do.’

With his first-team chances at Portman Road limited under previous manager Jim Magilton, Keano has said time and time again that he intends to give the youngsters a go next season. Is he the man that can get 20 goals next season?
