Only 7,000 Ipswich fans have signed up for a season ticket at Portman Road for the 2009/10 campaign, less than half of last season’s total figure.

Have you signed up?

However, the club insist they are far from finished with the processing of season ticket forms, and it is expected that the number to have signed up so far will be around that of the same period last year.

Before the ‘early bird price’ deadline last week, Ticket Office manager John Ford said that sales were on par with last season.

So what are the reasons for the relatively poor subscription?

Many fans are adamant that they will no purchase a season ticket until the club part company with manager Jim Magilton, after a very mediocre season that has seen little improvement despite large investment in the playing and coaching staff.

Or is it down to the credit crunch and recession? Everyone is holding back a little from spending, and has football at Portman Road become a victim of that? It would be foolish to look past that.
