Paul Jewell got stuck into his woeful flops after last night’s 4-0 loss at Burnley.

Two goals by Chris McCann and others from Junior Stanislas and Jay Rodriguez saw Town slump to their sixth straight defeat and are one place above the drop zone on goal difference ahead of Nottingham Forest.

Yet it was not long ago that Town went to Middlesbrough and got a draw and won at West Ham during a purple patch.

Jewell now likens his side to the Dog and Duck, or whatever you local is, and said: “It`s unbelievable that a team, which not so long ago was looking like a decent team, now suddenly looks like a pub team.

“I`m the manager and I carry the can, but some of the things that are happening on the pitch – I just don`t know where they are coming from.

“We haven`t got any leaders. I`m looking round that dressing room at half-time thinking it`s almost damage limitation – I can see it in their eyes.”

Town fans have continued to back the Blues boss and a hardy 319 were at Turf Moor, which left Jewell feeling even more uncomfortable.

He admitted: “I`m embarrassed walking past all those supporters that have come all that way to see that garbage.

“I`m proud as punch to be manager of Ipswich Town, but some of my players just see it as another game.

“It isn`t just another game, there are people who have done a 500-mile round trip tonight, probably had a day off work to put up with that.’
