Paul Jewell has to face up to his boss Marcus Evans in the next couple of days and explain why his side are spiralling downwards so badly.

Jewell will know that Roy Keane was given the bullet on the back of six defeats and some ropy displays and after the 4-0 thrashing by Burnley he has a lot to answer too right now.

Speaking after the defeat jewell said: ‘I`m not stupid, I know that if you lose six games on the bounce you aren`t going to be flavour of the month.

“I hope Marcus still believes in me, but if he thinks it`s best to make a change then that`s entirely up to him. I just want what`s best for Ipswich.’

The former Wigan, Derby and Bradford boss is hoping Evans will continue to look long term.

“As I said when I joined it`s a long-term project and I`ll keep going and keep fighting – that`s all you can do.”
