Is Ellis Simms Coming To Ipswich Town?

At the moment the answer would probably be, not if he can help it! That is because he would love to return to the Tyne and Wear and play once again for Sunderland.

Everton are yet to decide on his future, but there is a cluster of Championship clubs interested if the 22-year-old, should he be made available. Everton manager Sean Dyche is still tight-lipped on the subject, but with money too tight to mention at Goodison, he will inevitably leave at the right price. So then, what is the right price?

Over the last few weeks, Ipswich Town has undoubtedly shown real interest in the player but many media outlets have implied that the Toffees have turned down a bid of around 4 million from the Tractor Boys for the forward, but this is well wide of the mark. CEO Mark Ashton holds the purse strings these days at Portman Road, and he keeps his cards very close to his chest when it comes to transfer negotiations, and for good reason, when so many other clubs are also keen on the player.

Bristol City, Stoke City, Coventry City, Middlesborough, and of course, Sunderland are monitoring his situation closely, but as far as I am aware, only Ipswich has tabled a bid and that was at around 3.5 million. I have been informed that Town won’t go much beyond their financial ceiling of around 3.7 million, and that could well be their final offer before looking elsewhere. They clearly don’t want to be involved in a bidding war.

And if you find this interesting, and want to see a video version on the same topic, then go to my daily vlog on YouTube. It is called BEING FRANK ON IPSWICH TOWN!

Frank you seem like a nice guy, but we do not need folks just regurgitating speculation to foster their own profile. Am not sure who you think it benefits but it certainly is not ITFC and by definition us supporters, so would urge you in this and other examples in recent weeks to keep the noise down and let the Club do its business.

Fair point Tony. I will try to refrain from giving you any information that you cannot get elsewhere if that is what you all want. I have a contact at Ipswich, and that is why I know what is happening and it is common knowledge that Ellis Simms is wanted by Ipswich. All I am trying to do is to segregate the facts from fiction.

Tony – you must remember the old adage of ‘Buy on rumour, sell on fact’ lets face it this is the whole premise of the internet and what else am I going to look at in the off season…Keep it up Frank and maybe even throw in a rumour about a late bid for Declan RIce!!

    • Frank Weston says:

Thanks Mark B for your support here. Tony, of course, has good intentions but I cannot see the point of writing at all if I have information that is not out there in the public domain and I must not reveal it. If I was working for the CIA or the KGB it might make some sense, but in football matters gossip is everywhere, and I prefer to disseminate between facts and fiction.
