Reports claim that Ipswich Town are interested in young Watford striker Marvin Sordell.

Following loan spells with Wealdstone FC and Tranmere Rovers, Watford academy graduate Sordell broke into the Hornets first team last season with some impressive displays. The 20-year-old, who has been capped by the England U20s, was Watford’s second top scorer behind the departed Danny Graham last season with 15 goals in all competitions, including the decisive second goal in the Hornets’ 2-1 home win over Town in October 2010.

Tabloid reports this morning suggested that Ipswich had made an £800,000 bid for Sordell after it was revealed yesterday that manager Paul Jewell was waiting on two offers for a striker and a wide midfielder. Watford are understood to have since dismissed those reports having not yet received any offers for Sordell. However, this does not rule out the possibility of a subsequent pursuit by the Blues should they be genuinely interested in the youngster.

Meanwhile Premier League new boys QPR have confirmed their interest in former Town loanee Jimmy Bullard. The Blues may yet be tempted to renew their interest in a permanent deal for the Hull City midfielder, who scored 5 goals in 16 appearances for the Blues last season, but Neil Warnock’s side could now be leading the chase having already had a loan enquiry turned down last week.
