Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell has revealed he is already plotting further additions to his squad with offers placed for two more of his summer transfer targets.

Town have already made five signings this summer, central midfielder Lee Bowyer becoming the most recent after signing a one year deal with the Blues yesterday. With much work still to be done however, Jewell has tabled offers for another striker and a wide midfielder, as well as pursuing further options for his defence.

The Town boss told the Official Club Website: ‘We have a bid in for a striker and a wide player and we will see what develops from there.’

‘We’re also after another centre-half to provide competition to Damien [Delaney], Tommy Smith and Ivar [Ingimarsson]. There are other areas we are looking at as well.’

Since the sale of Connor Wickham, there have been many suggestions that Jewell is in the market for a third new striker. Sheffield United’s Ched Evans has repeatedly been linked with Town, whilst the likes of Daniel Bogdanovic and Noel Hunt have also been mentioned in the past month.

In midfield, Doncaster Rovers’ James Coppinger has been a known target throughout the summer, while Preston’s Keith Treacy has previously been linked. Rumours also continue to circulate about George Boateng, who is understood to be training with the Town squad, though obviously no such bid would be required as he is a free agent.

Meanwhile further defensive reinforcements also remain a priority. Ivar Ingimarsson and Aaron Cresswell have already been added to the Town backline so far this summer, though there are still a number of gaps. Versatile Sheffield United defender Matt Lowton is the most recent name to be linked following reports last week that he is interesting Ipswich and Blackpool, though both clubs could be put off by the 22-year-old’s price tag, thought to be around £4 million.
