If Mick McCarthy is in the market for a new ‘keeper then Manchester United man Sam Johnstone could be his man?
The ‘understanding’ from sky sports is that Ipswich are one of several championship sides impressed by the 21-year-olds form from last season when he spent a successful loan with Doncaster Rovers during his 18-appearances.
Clearly United rate the ‘keeper as they tied him down to a new three and a half year contract in January but in order for him to gain some more first-team experience they want to loan him out to a championship club next season.
Should McCarthy show a genuine interest he will, apparently, have competition from Fulham and Birmingham City among others for Johnstone.
