Ipswich Can’t Afford Wickham return

While new Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy would love to have Connor Wickham back at Ipswich, just as Paul Jewell did, he is going to be sadly dispapointed, just as Jewell was.

Sunderland are happy to let Wickham go out on loan but want the majority of his wages covered, and Town owner Marcus Evans is not prepapred to do that.

After scooping an £8m fee up front, Evans is not keen on seeing that seep away on a loan fee and wages, while the Black Cats, who have been less than impressed with the striker would love to recoup their investment one way or another.
