Reading`s match winner on Saturday could have been an Ipswich player today had things worked out differently last summer.

The Blues were keen on buying Noel Hunt but the Royals made it clear he was not for sale and the striker admitted he was flattered by the enquiry.

Hunt said: “There was interest but it never went very far. Reading said they didn`t want to sell and there was nothing I could do about that.
“I was happy to stay but Ipswich is a fantastic place and I have had some great memories here with scoring for Reading.
“I am a Reading player and will continue to give everything for them until someone tells me different.”

Hunt was in Charlotte, America running a summer camp and was told by twitter of Town`s interest.
“It was an interesting Tweet, the Irishman revealed. “You hear his things, sometimes you take it with a pinch of salt, other time there is truth in it.
“I heard there was interest but that was it. It was very flattering so I took it as a compliment.”

The striker was complimentary about Portman Road and its fans and added: “I scored a late goal here last year when we won 3-0 so it is a good place for me.
“I love this place. It is great stadium with great fans and when their
team is doing well they make a difference.”
