How It Could Have Sold Out Saturday!

Well some might say it could have been. Others will argue it should have been but in reality of course, it simply will not happen.

It is a long time since we have seen a full house at Portman Road.

Even the Norwich game at the beginning of the season failed to deliver and Managing Director Ian Milne said last week on the Naked Football Show that they were busy counting the seats again so who really knows?

According to the official figures it stands at 30,311 and although the game at home this weekend against Nottingham Forest could be the difference between the play-offs, Wembley – or dare we dream, the Premiership, we know it will sadly not be a full house.

Now the idea that I originally proposed to the club two years ago and which was revisited via a blog on the Those Where The Days website under the name Pessimistic involves organizing a club raffle with a 50/50 chance of winning a ticket for the game! You could call it ‘The ref is a tosser'( heads you win – tails you lose) or something catchy.

The club could charge 5 quid a ticket and anyone who buys one knows that they have a great chance of seeing the match for a fraction of the normal price.

In fact they have a 50/50 chance!

As it would be a one-off event I am sure that season ticket holders would not begrudge some supporters, who could not afford normally to go to Portman Road getting in for a fiver and better still, I feel sure the stadium would be very close to capacity in the process!

I suppose it is too little too late now to suggest this idea again but it would have been nice if the club could have at least responded to my original suggestion when it was first devised mooted in April 2013!
