Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has slammed Danny Haynes for his ‘unacceptable’ behaviour in Town’s 4-1 victory over Irish side Donegal Celtic last night.

There were only 15 minutes on the clock before Haynes appeared to kick out at a Celtic player. The referee asked Magic to replace to youngster to avoid him having to send-off the striker, which would have brought a three-game ban at the start of the season.

Jim said: ‘The referee handled it all very well. It was unacceptable and I won’t stand for it. He showed absolute disrespect to us and the lad in question.’

The match saw another outstanding display from Gary Roberts, who recently expressed his desire to stay at Portman Road. He was instrumental in the first goal – his fierce cross resulted in Donegal’s defender Sean Armstrong converting into his own net just before half-time.

Ten minutes after the break, the Irish side drew level but it was Owen Garvan on 65 that gave the Blues the lead. Alan Quinn came off the bench to score twice to make it 4-1.
