Freddie Sears Can Ease Town Fears!

Forget about a whole series of near misses against Blackburn Rovers because that can happen to any striker and his form since he came to Town has been quite simply immense.

Yes, he did miss an absolute sitter when we were chasing the game at Ewood Park that seemed much easier to score than to put over the bar but that is football and it happens to the very best.

I seem to recall Daryl Murphy doing something similar not so long ago but it did not stop him scoring and I think Freddie will relish these games against our fiercest rivals from the other county because he is a big stage player.

He broke into Premier football at a very early age with West Ham United and even then you could see his undoubted pedigree. He has had to drop down a league or two to rekindle his confidence and establish himself in the first team but now he is firing on all cylinders and looks a real bargain buy at just 100,000 pounds!

In fact, he has repaid the club a few times over already with his nine goals in a dozen or so matches, when he has been picked from to play from the kick off.

I think he is an exciting player to watch and a very crafty one at that. He has a wonderful football brain and since David McGoldrick was sidelined, has worked wonderfully well with Daryl Murphy and there is a great strike partnership developing there for sure.

Mick McCarthy is convinced he can make a major impact in the play-off’s and go on and score against our arch rivals. I am of the same point of view because this kid has speed and oodles of guile!

It is looking like a full house at Portman Road and this is just the sort of environment that will get the best out of him.

Norwich won’t look forward to facing a strike partnership that has scored 53 goals collectively so far this season and with a partisan crowd to cheer them on!

He knows how to terrify defences and I love the way he wriggles past defenders with sublime skill at times and he is quite unselfish too which is quite rare in a striker.

I am sure Canaries boss Alex Neil will have marked him out for special attention on Saturday but unlike Jonathan Williams, when he gets hit by some physicality he seems to bounce back to his feet unscathed and often being rewarded with a free kick!

Sky Sports camera’s will be there of course to witness round one of the battle of the counties and I for one think we have an excellent chance of going back to Carrow Road with a two goal lead.

With Freddie Sears and Daryl Murphy pulling the strings this is anything but a forgone conclusion for the bookies favourites and I think it will be a tense affair from start to finish.
