With Crawley failing to match Paul Jewell’s valuation for Andy Drury the £150,000 signing from Luton looks set to replace Premier League loanee Keith Andrews who has returned to Blackburn.

Town wanted around £100k for Drury who never played in a losing side during his 15-game loan spell with the Red Devil who made a bid thought to be around £50k.

Ipswich said no and now Jewell is likely to include him in the squad to face Reading tomorrow with Andrews going back to Ewood Park a couple of games earlier than planned due to a hamstring tear.

“We agreed a fee before he went on loan if he did well for them and they wanted him, Jewell said in his weekly presser. Then added somewhat sarcastically: “I don`t think he did that well for them as he played in 13 games and they won 10 and drew three and the bid was half of what we agreed, so I wouldn`t even have said it was a bid really.”

Steve Evans, manager of the League Two leaders had a different take telling the Sussex media: ‘Andy Drury played a part for us.
‘People can say what they want, but there are far more important players at this football club.
‘I was given a figure I was cleared to offer by the board. We made the offer in writing and Ipswich were very professional but rejected it.’

It is now probably that Drury will return to his old club Luton who are keen to take him back
