Deon Burton scored two penalties in a 2-1 Charlton friendly win over Ipswich on Tuesday night.

The first came after Lloyd Sam was fouled by new-boy Shane O’Connor halfway through the first 45 minutes.

Shumulikoski was penalised for handling in the box on 30 minutes, Burton keeping his cool for his second goal of the game.

David Norris grabbed Town’s goal after Connor Wickham had been fouled in the box, meaning a third penalty. But the youngster who has already tucked away one spot kick this pre-season, failed to hit the back of the net although Norris was there for the rebound.

Unfortunately it was no more than a consolation, although the young Ipswich side – that included three debutants – could have drawn level or even won the game in the second half.

Ipswich side: Supple, David Wright (Brown) O’Connor, Bruce (McAuley) , Smith, Lambe (Walters), Healy, Shumulikoski (Norris), Upson (Garvan), Peters and Wickham (Stead).
