Ex-Ipswich defender John McGreal is being lined up as a replacement for departing assistant academy coach Steve Greaves.

McGreal left the Blues in 2004 to join Burnley after making nearly 150 appearances for the Blues. He has recently been working on obtaining his coaching badges. Assistant academy coach Greaves was also on the Tractor Boys’ books as a player, but failed to make an appearance.

Magilton is showing that he is not afraid to change his coaching set-up, with goalkeeping coach Andy Rhodes departing just a few weeks ago. No replacement has yet been announced.

Meanwhile, Fabian Wilnis is another name linked with the role to replace Greaves, but the Dutchman who left Town at the end of the season may yet decide to extend his playing career with Colchester United apparently interested. Wilnis did help out with coaching the reserves last season, which could go in his favour.
