Dark Days At Portman Road

Town boss Paul Jewell admitted these are dark days at Ipswich after they slumped to their fifth straight defeat.
After losing 3-2 for the third time in a row Jewell accepted confidence is lower than a snake`s belly at Portman Road.

‘We should have seen out the last two games and had we managed to get two wins, everything would be rosy,” said Jewell.

“But confidence is so low at the moment and every time the ball comes into our box, we look vulnerable.
‘It’s hard for people to see pluses at the moment, but we’ve got to get out of it.

“No one’s going to help us. We’ve got to fight and scrap and try and get a result from somewhere, to try and turn things round.’

The Blues have now conceded more goals than any other team in the division and Jewell knows every time a ball is crossed in Town are likely to ship another.

He said: “It was a nervous performance and the goals we gave away from set-pieces were beyond comprehension,” he said.
“If there weren`t any mistakes in games there wouldn`t be any goals, but people had their man to mark and didn`t.”
