Luca Civelli says he is gutted to have been ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage and is now waiting to see the extent of the injury.

In injury time of last Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, Civelli left the field on a stretcher with the club later confirming he had sustained knee ligament damage.

The Argentine will undergo exploratory surgery to determine the extent of the injury in the next ten days.

He told the club site: ‘It’s very hard for me at the moment, I have only played eight games and now I will be out for a long time.

‘It’s the first injury I have had and I know it is a bad one. I felt the pain straight away. I have to wait now and see what happens when they do the operation and then I will know how long I will be out.

‘The only good thing is that it has happened near the end of the season so I will miss less football than if it happened at the start but it’s still very disappointing because I was enjoying playing for Ipswich and wanted to help the team get in the play-offs.’
