Can Ipswich Town Exploit Owl Weaknesses?

Under manager Mick McCarthy, Town have had a bad habit over the years of missing golden opportunities and tomorrow night in Sheffield, another one appears to have come around.

The Owls are really struggling for form at the moment and have lost their last four matches in all competitions, so there is perhaps no better time to face them at their place!

They have lost to Millwall, Aston Villa, Bristol City in the Championship and they were beaten by Swansea too in the 5th round of the FA Cup recently so it has been a bad few weeks for the Thai owned club, who are managed these days by Jos Luhukay, after the departure to Swansea of Carlos Carvalhal.

In his press conference today McCarthy reported that there are no new injuries to his squad, and that both Joe Garner and Mustapha Carayol are both fit and raring to go.

With four games in twelve days to look forward to, Town fans can expect some changes to personnel but it looks likely that he won’t tinker to greatly with the side that defeated Preston away at the back end of February, and this should mean the continued presence of Chambers, Webster and Carter-Vickers at the back.

Sometimes in football, games come at a good time and here is an opportunity for the Blues to capitalize on the general state of health of their opponents, who will be low on confidence just now.

They have slipped to 17th in the table and are eleven points adrift of Town with a minus eleven goal difference.

Mick McCarthy has never lost an away match at Hillsborough in his managerial career so the omens are in our favour it would seem.

A victory tomorrow night and we could be on move up the table again – although our slim hopes of actually making the playoffs remain just that. Slim.

I was very impressed with Mustapha Carayol on his debut and if he could use his pace and guile to snake through this very vulnerable Owls defence then we could be onto something.

Another early goal would certainly get the natives restless but it looks as if Tom Lees is back at the back, which should steady the Wednesday ship a little I would have thought.
