Ipswich crock Paul Taylor has been released on police bail after a late night town centre incident.

Two members of staff, believed to be door staff, at the Robert Ransome pub in Tower Street, Ipswich, were injured – one suffering a broken rib and the other a fractured eye socket and broken finger – in a fracas which allegedly took place in the early hours of October 16.

Taylor, who launched his career as a youth player at Manchester City, and a 24-year-old woman from Liverpool were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They have been released on police bail while investigations continue and are both due to return to Suffolk Constabulary on January 16.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Blues in August at a cost of £1.7million from Peterborough, is expected to miss the rest of this season after breaking his foot in the game against Wolves in only his third game for Town.
