New signing, goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has admitted that Ipswich had been after him for more than a year, so he’s delighted to have finally got the deal done now.

The 27 year old joined us the other day from Notts County and has signed a two year deal following the agreeing of an undisclosed fee, and after penning the deal, he told the Official Site.

I’m really happy to be an Ipswich Town player. It’s been going on for a while and when that happens, you can get worried sometimes but I was always confident it would get done.’

Moving to the club as a newbie, it won’t be entirely new for the keeper as whilst he was with Southampton, he did have a loan spell with us back in early 2009, although he didn’t make an appearance so he’ll know the ground and so on, but also helping him to settle in quickly is the fact he knows our goalie coach well.

‘I worked with Malcolm Webster at Southampton and Hearts and it’s great to be back working with him again. He’s a great guy and probably the best coach I have worked with. He rang me a year ago and said Ipswich were watching me and would keep an eye on me through the season. I watched their results as well and then Malcolm rang me just before the end of last season and said Ipswich were interested. As soon as I heard they definitely wanted me, my mind was made up straight away.’

Bart, as he is known, now knows what it’s like to be first choice keeper and that’s exactly the ambition he has coming to us now, and he knows he can achieve that by working hard and making sure he impresses the gaffer to get the chance, and then it’s down to him to take it.
