A Town Win Tomorrow And Nothing Less Will Do

There will be a huge Town following at Portman Road tomorrow, and if we are serious about an automatic promotion place, then only a win will do. This is not rocket science.

A victory would claw three points back on leaders Plymouth Argyle, and with a game in hand, the momentum would be on our side. I think manager Kieran McKenna and CEO Mark Ashton have answered most supporters’ prayers by signing two new strikers. It has given the squad a big lift, and at precisely the right time. Now it is time for the Blues to step up to the plate and defeat The Pilgrims tomorrow, and that means giving it all we’ve got! The recent recruitment of George Hirst and Nathan Broadhead is designed to keep us pushing on the front foot. We can no longer let leads slip.

The visitors will come here full of confidence, and because of the way they play, they will be looking to attack more than just simply defend. It will make for a refreshing change, and often when this occurs, Town play some of their best football. And let’s not forget that Town have another trick up their sleeve, with the re-signing of Massimo Luongo from Middlesborough. The 30-year-old failed to make a first-team appearance for Boro during his four months at the Riverside, but at this level, he will want to get some game time and could make an appearance from the bench.

Sam Morsy and Lee Evans need to keep the engine room ticking over nicely, and creating opportunities for the forwards. I have a feeling that all our new signings might not start, and that would mean that both Kayden Jackson and Freddie Ladapo play. Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns are certain starters – barring last-minute setbacks, and there could be a place in the side for Marcus Harness too. I am predicting a 3-1 win to the Tractor Boys, and I would not be surprised if some of the goals come from unlikely places, such as our defence. Lief Davis is due a goal, as of course, is Janoi Donacien!
