Ipswich Town have wrapped up the £200 000 signing of Wigan right back David Wright.

The former Crewe man has signed a three and a half year deal, and is expected to go straight intothe side to face Sunderland.

Wright revealed how pleased he was at joining Ipswich:If I was leaving Wigan it was important to me that I joined a club which matched my ambitions.

‘Having played against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United over the last two years, the Premiership is the place to be and the determination to get Ipswich there came through when I spoke to Jim.

‘It’s clear that the manager is very ambitious. He wants Ipswich Town to be back in the Premiership and that is exactly what I wanted to hear, so it didn’t take long for him to persuade me this is the right club for me.

‘I have played against Ipswich a few times for Crewe and Wigan and know what the club is all about. There are certainly similarities between Crewe and Ipswich, with both teams always looking to play football. When the two clubs met, it was a game of ‘pure’ football.’
